Early in the second session at Keeneland November Wednesday, 12-year-old Surfside (Seattle Slew), a champion with four Grade I wins and more than $1.8 million in purses, was picked up for $500,000 by Gainesway from the Overbrook dispersal. But her three-year-old half-sister, the Belmont maiden winner Wild Poppy (El Prado {Ire}--Flanders, by Seeking the Gold), eclipsed her older sibling 29 hips later, going to Edwrd Evans for $950,000. Consigned by Eaton Sales as a racing/broodmare prospect, the grey was most recently fourth in a Keeneland allowance Oct. 28.
