Songandaprayer Filly Goes for $250,000

On behalf of his Blandford Bloodstock, agent Tom Goff went to $250,000 to acquire hip 3186, a filly by Songandaprayer--Forty Gran (El Gran Senor). Consigned by Anderson Farms on behalf of the filly's breeder Kinghaven Farms, the bay filly is out of a multiple stakes-placed mare which was purchased by Kinghaven for $245,000 at the 2001 Keeneland January sale. The Canadian-based operation has sold well from the mare in the past, having been represented by the mare's foal of 2006, Square Eddie (Smart Strike), who was a $200,000 graduate of last year's September...

Ferguson Tags Tiger Hill Colt for 500,000gns

Agent John Ferguson made his first big purchase of day three when he bought a Tiger Hill (Ire)--Darara (GB) colt for 500,000gns. The dam, a G1SW in France, has produced four stakes winners, including Hong Kong's Champion Older Horse of 2003-2004 Diaghilev (Ire). Lane's End Farm's Shadow Cast (m, 7, Smart Strike), who carried  Bill Farish's green and gold silks to victory in the GI Personal Ensign H. at Saratoga in 2005, was another of the standouts on the opening day of trade at the Keeneland November sale and was knocked down to John Ferguson for $2.3 million. Island Fashion, who earned over $2 million during her racing career, sold for $950,000 to Katsumi Yoshida's Northern Farm. Giant's Causeway Filly Makes Waves at Calder

An attractive chestnut filly by Giant's Causeway from the family of GI Breeders' Cup Classic hero Raven's Pass (Elusive Quality) was knocked down for $600,000 as the Fasig-Tipton Calder Sale, off a tad slowly, began to make solid headway Tuesday afternoon. Consigned by Ciaran Dunne's Wavertree Stables' agency, the daughter of Yard Art (Lasting Approval), a $325,000 buyback at last year's Keeneland September sale, was purchased by Davant Latham acting as agent for Mandy Pope's Whisper Hill Farm.

Mine That Bird's Brother Brings $485K at Midlantic

A half-brother to GI Kentucky Derby hero Mine That Bird (Birdstone), added  to the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale after his sibling's Classic score, brought a final bid of $485,000 at Timonium Monday. The dark bay was bought by Dogwood Stables. The Yonaguska colt was purchased by Paul Saylor for $100,000 as the OBS March sale, who decided to cash in on the catalgue update here. Half To Surfside Brings $950K At KEENOV Wednesday

Early in the second session at Keeneland November Wednesday, 12-year-old Surfside (Seattle Slew), a champion with four Grade I wins and more than $1.8 million in purses, was picked up for $500,000 by Gainesway from the Overbrook dispersal. But her three-year-old half-sister, the Belmont maiden winner Wild Poppy (El Prado {Ire}--Flanders, by Seeking the Gold), eclipsed her older sibling 29 hips later, going to Edwrd Evans for $950,000. Consigned by Eaton Sales as a racing/broodmare prospect, the grey was most recently fourth in a Keeneland allowance Oct. 28.
