Lane's End Farm's Shadow Cast (m, 7, Smart Strike), who carried Bill Farish's green and gold silks to victory in the GI Personal Ensign H. at Saratoga in 2005, was another of the standouts on the opening day of trade at the Keeneland November sale and was knocked down to John Ferguson for $2.3 million. Winner of nine of her 21 career starts and $923,751, the seven-year-old sold carrying a colt by champion Bernardini (A.P. Indy). Shadow Cast is already the dam of a yearling filly by A.P. Indy, which was purchased by Ferguson for an even $1 million at Keeneland September.
