Songandaprayer Filly Goes for $250,000

On behalf of his Blandford Bloodstock, agent Tom Goff went to $250,000 to acquire hip 3186, a filly by Songandaprayer–Forty Gran (El Gran Senor). Consigned by Anderson Farms on behalf of the filly's breeder Kinghaven Farms, the bay filly is out of a multiple stakes-placed mare which was purchased by Kinghaven for $245,000 at the 2001 Keeneland January sale. The Canadian-based operation has sold well from the mare in the past, having been represented by the mare's foal of 2006, Square Eddie (Smart Strike), who was a $200,000 graduate of last year's September sale. A maiden winner at Salisbury July 22, he most recently missed by a head when second in the G3 Sirenia S. at Kempton Sept. 6.
