Delectation, who stepped up off a two-length debut win for trainer Bryan Smart at Thirsk Aug. 9 to become the first stakes winner for her sire (by Dansili {GB}) when annexing the six-furlong G3 Firth of Clyde S. at Ayr in her only other start Sept. 17, was acquired by new connections after that latest triumph and maintained her unbeaten tally with a decisive score in this trial for Dusseldorf's June 18 G2 German 1000 Guineas. The bay was comfortable under a tight hold in rear, after breaking from an outer gate, as Alwina (Ger) (Areion {Ger}) poached a clear lead through the early fractions. Beginning a forward move once passing the halfway mark, she fanned wide into the straight with all but the pacesetting Alwina taking a similar route and kept on powerfully under mild urging once weaving a passage to the front approaching the final furlong to double her black-type tally with plenty to spare.

Delectation is the third and best winner, from as many foals to race, out of a winning half-sister to G2 July S. victor Captain Hurricane (GB) (Desert Style {Ire}), and her second dam Ravine (GB) (Indian Ridge {Ire}) is a winning half-sister to MGSW G1 1000 Guineas runner-up Niche (GB) (Risk Me {Fr}). She hails from a family which also includes European champion sprinter and G1 Nunthorpe S. GI Breeders' Cup Sprint and G1 Haydock Sprint Cup-winning sire Sheikh Albadou (GB) (Green Desert), and is kin to a 2-year-old colt by Foxwedge (Aus).
