A pair of winners, After the Races and the Retired Racehorse Project, opted to split the winnings of the Resolute Racing's Poker For Ponies Tournament held in the lead up to the GI Kentucky Derby earlier this month. Santa Anita Poker Tournament to Benefit 'Folds of Honor'

Santa Anita will host a charity poker tournament Oct. 23 to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation, which supports families of fallen or disable veterans. Bill Filed to legalize Poker at NJ Tracks

A stand-alone bill that would specifically authorize New Jersey's horse tracks to conduct poker games for the first time was filed in the state's legislature July 2. According the explanatory statement included in the one-page Assembly Bill No. 4365, "This bill authorizes poker to be played in poker rooms at horse racetracks in this State. The bill states that the Legislature finds and declares that the card game poker is a game of bluff and skill and is not restricted by the gambling provisions of the State Constitution." Hawthorne Won't Race 2020 Spring Meet to Allow for Racino Construction

Hawthorne Race Course will not run a spring Thoroughbred meet in 2020 because the afternoon races will conflict with the large-scale reconstruction of the track's grandstand and clubhouse that will transform the plant into a racino.
