The Louisiana State Racing Commission (LSRC) unanimously passed a motion Tuesday that owner and trainer Karl Broberg believes will allow him to race horses at the upcoming Fair Grounds meet despite an exclusion order imposed last month by that track's corporate owner, Churchill Downs Inc. (CDI). Richard L. Golden, who led Northview Stallion Station for over three decades, died of natural causes in West Palm Beach, Florida, Sept. 18. He was 82. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., Golden made his fortune in the garment industry in New York before turning his attention to the Thoroughbred industry. He purchased an undeveloped property in Chesapeake City in 1986 and created Sycamore Hall Farm.
