Holy Roman Emperor Colt Tops Early Tatts Returns

Hip 103, a half-brother to four-time Group 1 winner and GI Breeders' Cup Classic candidate Mastercraftsman (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}), brought a final bid of 400,000gns to top the early returns on day one at the Tattersalls October sale. Demi O'Byrne signed the ticket on behalf of the Coolmore contingent. The colt is from the first crop by Holy Roman Emperor (Ire) (Danehill), who was the top-rated juvenile in France in 2006 after winning the G1 Phoenix S. and G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere. Mastercraftsman, the champion juvenile in Europe last season, has carried the Coolmore colors to victory in the G1 Phoenix S., G1 National S., G1 Irish 2000 Guineas and G1 St James's Palace S. Overall, the colt has compiled a record of 11-7-1-1, with earnings of $1,694,933.
