Zoffany's Foundation Stays Perfect in the Ascendant

Successful despite a display of rawness over this course and distance in his Aug. 7 unveiling, Foundation made a smooth transition into black-type company with a dominant stretch performance here. The chestnut started slowly in that only prior start and repeated the dose to race last of the five runners through the early stages of this test. Picking off rivals one by one in the straight, he quickened impressively to seize control just inside the eighth pole and bounded clear under mild urging to easily register a career high. “He's a very nice horse and Frankie [Dettori] liked him a lot,” commented former Manchester United soccer coach and Highclere member Sir Alex Ferguson. “I think the [Sept. 26 G2] Royal Lodge [S. at Newmarket] would be a possibility.”
