EVE OF WAR (f, 3, Declaration of War–Special Thanks, by Broken Vow), sent off at 5-2 for her turf and route debut, held the advantage all the way around at to mark her return to the winner's circle Gulfstream. Cleanly away, the chestnut assumed a narrow advantage over New Day Dawning (Medaglia d'Oro), who was prompted by Secret Stash (Mukhadram {GB}) and Sky Snow (Lemon Drop Kid). Still in front through a half in :47.84, the Todd Pletcher trainee looked to have something left in the tank as she turned into the stretch still leading the way. Tackled to her outside by the ultra-game Secret Stash, she appeared to be momentarily headed by that rival, but fought back with determination to score by a half length over her fellow 5-2 chance. Ella Brilla (Kitten's Joy) rounded out the trifecta. A flashy debut winner going six panels over the Gulfstream dirt Feb. 2, Eve of War finished sixth last time out going 6 1/2 furlongs at the Hallandale oval Feb. 28. Special Thanks, a daughter of multiple graded stakes winner Bendanken (Geri), produced a filly by Street Sense in 2018 followed by a filly by Air Force Blue. She was bred back to Hard Spun. Lifetime Record: 3-2-0-0, $51,400. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
