'TDN Rising Star' Vancouver (Aus) (Medaglia d'Oro), who completed a perfect 2-year-old preparation with a smooth victory in the 2015 G1 Golden Slipper S., will reverse shuttle from Coolmore Australia to the farm's Ashford Stud in Versailles, Kentucky, for the 2017 breeding season.

“I saw Vancouver in Australia last week and he's an exceptionally good-looking individual who should sire both racehorses and sales horses,” said Ashford manager Dermot Ryan. “I think U.S. breeders will be very impressed when they see him. He's by a very good sire in Medaglia d'Oro and is proving extremely fertile with nearly 50 mares already scanned in foal. Our sire sensation Uncle Mo was also an unbeaten champion juvenile at two, as was Shanghai Bobby whose first yearlings were very well received this fall and who Vancouver very much reminds me of. It all bodes very well for the future.”

Victorious in the Listed Thoroughbred Breeders Plate on career debut, Vancouver added the G3 Canonbury S. at second asking, then broke the Rosehill juvenile track record in the G2 Todman S., stopping the timer in 1:08.83 for the 1200 meters. The 3-2 favorite for the Slipper while backing up on just two weeks' rest, Vancouver was taken on from both sides in the final furlong and a half, but proved 3/4 of a length too good in the finish (video).

Bred by John Camilleri's Fairway Thoroughbreds, Vancouver is a son of the stakes-placed 2-year-old filly Skates (Aus) (Danehill), making him a half-brother to G1SW Juste Momente (Aus) (Giant's Causeway) and to SW Captain Coltish (Aus) (Fusaichi Pegasus). His G1 Doncaster H.-winning second dam Skating (Aus) (At Talaq) is responsible for GSW & MG1SP Murtajill (Aus) (Rock of Gibraltar {Ire}) and SW & GSP Bradbury's Luck (Aus) (Redoute's Choice {Aus}).
