'TDN Rising Star' Marking (Bernardini–Seventh Street, by Street Cry {Ire}) has been retired from racing and will enter stud in 2017 at Fred Alexander's A & A Ranch in Anthony, New Mexico. He will stand for $3,500 live foal.
Accorded Rising Star status off a victory in a 6 1/2-furlong maiden at Belmont Park last September, the Darley homebred was an easy allowance winner over a mile in his next start and was runner-up to GI Breeders' Cup Sprint hero and future champion Runhappy (Super Saver) in the GI Malibu S. to close out his 2015 campaign. The bay overcame a slow start to annex a Meydan handicap under 132 pounds and just missed to Eclipse Award candidate A. P. Indian (Indian Charlie) in the GIII Belmont Sprint Championship. Marking retires with three wins from eight starts and earnings of $426,200.
