Into Mischief Filly Gets the 'Call' in Miss Preakness

Mundaye Call (Into Mischief), an eye-catching winner in track-record time of the Runhappy Audubon Oaks at Ellis Park Aug. 9, seeks her first graded score in Saturday's GIII Miss Preakness S. at Pimlico. After recording a field-best 100 Beyer Speed Figure in that front-running, 7 1/4-length decision, the OXO Equine colorbearer got caught up in a torrid pace in Churchill's GII Eight Belles S. Sept. 4 and tired to fourth. The 7-5 morning-line favorite takes on a pair of 'TDN Rising Stars' here, including the field's lone Grade I winner...

Cambier Parc Poised for Canadian Return

The last time OXO Equine's Cambier Parc (Medaglia d'Oro) faced the starter was in Keeneland's GI Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup S. last October and the blue-blooded filly looks to mark her return in Saturday's GII Canadian S. at Woodbine. A front-running winner in the nine-furlong test for 3-year-old fillies, the Chad Brown trainee employed completely opposite tactics when closing from off the pace to score in the GI Del Mar Oaks in August. Earlier last season, she won the GIII Herecomesthebride S. at Gulfstream and the GIII Wonder Again...

Another Rising Star for Frosted

OXO Equine's Travel Column (Frosted) sailed to an impressive 4 1/4-length debut win at Churchill Downs Friday and was quickly awarded the 'TDN Rising Star' label. Sent off at 9-2, the gray filly was third in the early strides as Off We Go (Air Force Blue) jumped out to the early lead. Off We Go briefly had a clear advantage, but Travel Column, racing keenly, rushed up to press the pacesetter through fractions of :21.27 and :44.42. She surged to the lead at the top of the stretch and was...

Into Mischief Filly Looms Large in Eight Belles

OXO Equine's Mundaye Call (Into Mischief) may not be ready to face the big girls in Friday's GI Kentucky Oaks, but the progressive bay will look to punch her ticket for a date with the top fillies of her class in the near future as a looming short-priced proposition on the undercard in the GII Eight Belles S. Bought for the hefty sum of $950,000 as a Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling, Mundaye Call was just nipped when second by a head debuting for Don Chatlos at 4-5 last summer at Saratoga....

Pricey Vintage Print Back at Keeneland for Transylvania

OXO Equine's $1.8-million Keeneland September yearling Vintage Print (Curlin) returns to Lexington for Sunday's GIII Kentucky Utilities Transylvania S. The Chad Brown trainee didn't show much in a pair of main-track efforts in New York last fall, but looked like a different horse when trying turf to graduate at Gulfstream Feb. 22. The son of GISW Molly Morgan (Ghostzapper) ran down speedy Mike Maker pupil Fancy Liquor (Lookin At Lucky) to clear his first-level allowance condition at Churchill June 11. Another Transylvania pair who made up a Churchill exacta last...

Speightster Colt Lights it Up Late at OBS

A New York-bred colt from the first crop of Speightster lit up the board late Friday at OBS as he garnered a $1.1-million final bid from Christina Jelm, who was acting on behalf of Larry Best's OXO Equine LLC. Consigned by Tom McCrocklin as hip 1312, the :20 4/5 breezer turned in a strong gallop out that caught plenty of eyes. A supplemental entry to the OBS Spring sale, the son of MSP Auspicious (Indian Charlie)--already named Fortunate Son--was a $110,000 Saratoga York-bred yearling purchase by McCrocklin.
