Former Irish Champion Flat Jockey Tommy Murphy Dies At 88

Former Irish Champion Flat Jockey and two-time Classic-winning rider Tommy Murphy died at a hospital in Cashel on Wednesday. A rider and later an assistant trainer to the late Vincent O'Brien, he was 88. Murphy rode his first winner in 1954 in Ireland and spent six years riding in England before beginning a 10-year stint with Clem Magnier in Co Meath. Hollie Doyle Reaches 1,000 Winners At Goodwood

Classic-winning jockey Hollie Doyle reached 1,000 career winners at Goodwood on Tuesday. Doyle, who won her first race 11 years ago, was aboard trainer David Simcock's Leyhaimur (GB) (Pinatubo {Ire}) when winning the William Hill Keep Your Raceday Positive Fillies' Nursery Handicap over six furlongs. Classic-Winning Jockey Jimmy Lindley Passes at 86

Former top jockey Jimmy Lindley has died. He was 86. One of the top jockeys in the UK in the 1960s and 70s, Lindley rode three British Classic winners, as well as the 1960 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth S. winner Aggressor (GB) (Combat {GB}). He suffered from weight issues throughout his career, and periodically rode over National Hunt fences, as well.
