Report: Brown Hearing Postponed Two Weeks

Leading trainer Chad Brown, who was arrested Aug. 17 and was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing, has had his court appearance adjourned two weeks to Friday, Sept. 16. The Blood-Horse was first to report the news. Brown was released the morning of Aug. 18 on cash bail of $2,500 and was ordered to reappear Sept. 2. An owner of Siro's, the popular restaurant and bar within walking distance of Saratoga Race Course, was arrested May 6 on charges of forging insurance and liquor-license documents in an effort to get a city permit to open the business in the middle of the pandemic last summer. The Daily Gazette newspaper in New York's capitol region first broke the story Monday. Scott R. Filly's Death at Belmont Leads to Arrest

According to a Newsday story, a 2-year-old filly let out of her stall Thursday at Belmont Park by a former employee resulted in a fall that led to the filly's death. The former employee, identified by the Nassau County Police Department as Ramzan Antooa, 38, of Elmont, had been spotted at approximately 7:45 p.m. by Belmont's security personnel releasing the filly, the paper said.
