French breeders will have the option of using a son of Japanese star sire Deep Impact (Jpn) (Sunday Silence) with the arrival of Martinborough (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}–Halwa Song, by Nureyev) at Haras de Grandcamp for stud duties later this month. The Northern Farm bred Group 3 winning 8-year-old was purchased through Broadhurst Agency's Laurent Benoit who commented, “I've spent two years looking for a potential deal to bring a son of Deep Impact here. Martinborough is extremely well-bred on the dam's side as well and carries the blood of Nureyev and Blushing Groom. It is certainly their speed which accounts for the fact that he proved best at around 2,000 metres, all of which makes him more than interesting.” Martinborough will stand for a fee of  €4,000 and will join another recent arrival to Grandcamp in Dream Ahead (Diktat) who transfers from Ballylinch Stud.
