Last year's G3 Prix des Chenes winner Policy of Truth (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}) was giving another nod to Van Gogh (American Pharoah) on Sunday as he captured ParisLongchamp's G3 Prix de Fontainebleau. Last seen trailing that Ballydoyle blueblood when fourth in Saint-Cloud's G1 Criterium International in October which has also been boosted by La Barrosa (Ire) (Lope de Vega {Ire}), the imposing bay who races for Haras du Logis Saint Germain and trainer Pia Brandt was on the rail with two behind early. Angled out for his run by the G3 Prix la Grotte-winning jockey Maxime Guyon two out, the 9-1 shot overwhelmed the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere hero Sealiway (Fr) (Galiway {GB}) at the furlong pole en route to a half-length success, with Summiter (Ire) (Bated Breath {GB}) 3/4 of a length away in third. “He's a big horse to have to switch out like that and quicken as well as he did, so it was a very good sign,” Brandt commented. “He had shown me great quality last season, but you never know from two to three. He had done plenty of work and was really fit for this, because we wanted to see something in order to come back for the [G1 Poule d'Essai des] Poulains [at ParisLongchamp May 16].”

Sealiway will also be there for the rematch, with trainer Frederic Rossi declaring himself happy with the display of the runner-up. “I had said beforehand that he was not fully wound-up and the plan was only to see him run a good race. He did, but I think he needed it and when he took a breather halfway down the straight it wasn't the best time as the other was flying on his outside. He kept finding, which is a very good sign, so we'll play the match again in a month's time.”
Policy of Truth, who showed when winning the Chenes by three lengths in September that he enjoys this track, is the last known foal out of Dawn To Dance (Ire) (Selkirk) who is also the dam of the stakes-winning GIII San Juan Capistrano H. runner-up Siberian Iris (Ire) (Excelebration {Ire}). The second dam is the listed winner Dawnsio (Ire) (Tate Gallery), who was responsible for the G1 Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp hero and sire Namid (GB) (Indian Ridge) and his G3 Concorde S. and G3 Renaissance S.-winning full-sister Noelani (Ire).
