VOLATILE (c, 3, Violence&log=">Violence–Melody Lady {SW}, by Unbridled's Song), the priciest son or daughter of Violence to sell at auction when he brought $850,000 at KEESEP '17, took the first step towards repaying his owners' investment with a green-but-good debut score against a particularly salty-looking group of maidens Saturday at the Pea Patch. Dismissed at 9-1, the grey sat off the pace in between horses early behind splits of :23.14 and :46.59. Traveling well into the stretch but with nowehere to go, he was sharply shifted out by pilot Rayan Gazader and he inhaled foes to strike the front. Shifting in once he made the lead, he righted the ship enough to hold sway by 3/4 of a length over Encinitas (Union Rags). The winner is a full to Buy Sell Hold, SW & GSP, $125,520; unraced 2-year-old colt Soccer Dad (Bayern)–a $260,000 KEESEP grad–and another Bayern colt foaled last year. MGISW second dam Lady Tak (Mutakddim) is also the dam os Japanese SW/MGSP A Shin Spartan (Zensational). Sales history: $850,000 Ylg '17 KEESEP. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $30,000.
