+MOONLIGHT RAIN (f, 2, Point of Entry–Sweet Sugaree {SP}, by Tiznow) came from well off the pace with a flying finish to capture her debut over the Woodbine turf, becoming the second winner for her freshman sire (by Dynaformer). Let go at odds of 11-1 as one of two Casse-trained fillies taking on the boys, the Grossberg homebred lagged behind fractions of :24.06 and :47.03 and gathered steam as the field spun into the stretch. Left with significant work to do, she kicked it into high gear late, splitting horses to get up and score by an neck. Third timer Adios Muchacho (Adios Charlie), fifth last time behind well-regarded Casse runner Blueblood (City Zip) in the July 8 Victoria S. on the main track, was second. The winner's SP dam, who was acquired privately by Gabe Grossberg after a sophomore campaign that included a runner-up effort in the 2006 Martha Washington S. at Oaklawn, is herself a half to SW Interest Only (Crafty Prospector) and GSP Moon Over Prospect (Crafty Prospector). Her dam produced a Quality Road filly this season. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $29,189. Click for the Equibase.com chart or the VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
