Point of Entry Colt Leads Way at KEESEP

A colt from the first crop of Point of Entry led the way during Friday's 11th session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

On the second and final day of the Book 5 session of the sale, 262 yearlings switched hands for $3,749,400, a 24.28% increase from the corresponding session in 2015. The average of $14,311 was 2.46% above last year's mark of $13,968, while the median of $8,750 was 2.78% below $9,000 in 2015.

Through 11 sessions of the 13-day sale, Keeneland cumulatively has sold 2,477 yearlings for $270,363,600, down 3.43% from the same period last year when 2,575 horses grossed $279,977,300. The average of $109,150 was just above $108,729 in 2015. The median of $50,000 was 12.28% below $57,000 in 2015.

Brad Anderson signed the ticket for the session-topping colt, who is out of the Pulpit mare My McIntosh. He was produced by a unplaced half-sister to stakes winners Miss Red Delicious (Empire Maker) and Dr. Diamonds Prize (Pure Prize). The Apr. 2 foal was bred and consigned by KatieRich Farms.

Eisaman Equine led all buyers on the day with three yearlings purchased for a gross of $175,000 and an average of $58,333. Lane's End Farm was the day's leading consignor with 26 horses sold for a gross of $370,900 and an average of $14,265.
