Here are the horses of interest for this weekend running at Tokyo and Kyoto Racecourses, including debuting juveniles from a pair of leading first-crop sires:

Saturday, October 28, 2017
4th-KYO, ¥13,400,000 (US$118k), Newcomers, 2yo, 1200m
I CAN FLY (c, 2, Overanalyze–Ctimene, by Consolidator) was tied for the fourth-pricest of his leading freshman sire (by Dixie Union)'s 52 yearlings to sell when hammering for $80K at KEESEP and fetched $200K (2/25) as an OBSMAR breezer after working in :10 flat. The April foal is out of a half to ill-fated 'TDN Rising Star' and GSW Odysseus (Malibu Moon) and to MSW Once Around (You and I), dam of GISW Decked Out (Street Boss). B-Haymarket Farm & Lakemont Stable (KY)

PERPETUO (f, 2, Pioneerof the Nile–Ribbon Taffy, by Hard Spun), a $170K FTSAUG yearling, drilled an eighth of a mile in :10 flat on her incorrect lead and fetched $540K at FTFMAR earlier this year (4/15). The filly's dam, purchased carrying this foal for $160K at KEENOV in 2014, is a half-sister to former 'TDN Rising Star' Barrier Reef (Maria's Mon). B-Woodford Thoroughbreds (KY)

12th-TOK, ¥14,250,000 (US$125k), Allowance, 3yo/up, 1600m
EAGLE BAROWS (c, 3, Henny Hughes–Minny's Niece, by Quiet American), a $20K KEESEP yearling turned $250K OBSMAR juvenile, was a respectable fifth on debut in July, but led throughout beneath visiting jockey Joao Moreira to post a booming 12 1/2-length graduation Aug. 27 (video). Christophe Lemaire has the call for top conditioner Noriyuki Hori. B-Chuck Kidder & Nancy Cole (KY)

Sunday, October 29, 2017
4th-TOK, ¥13,400,000 (US$119k), Newcomers, 2yo, 1400mT
SEIUN AKAMAI (f, 2, Animal Kingdom–Yachats, by Forest Camp), a $100K KEESEP acquisition, became the most expensive of her sire (by Leroidesanimaux {Brz})'s first-crop 2-year-old fillies when hammering for $220K (:10 1/5 breeze) at OBSAPR this past spring. Her stakes-placed dam, a half-sister to a pair of stakes performers, is already responsible for Grade III-placed juvenile La Song (Unbridled's Song).
