The five-day Tattersalls Ireland November National Hunt Sale came to a close on Thursday with an overall record median price of €12,000 and an average (€16,866) that was the second-highest in the sale's history. In all, the four days of foals, yearlings and mares grossed €12,167,650. The sale returned the highest price for both a colt and a filly since 2007, Altior's half-brother by Camelot (GB) fetching €155,000 and a Flemensfirth filly from the family of Hurricane Fly realizing €88,000.
Thursday's session was topped by the 7-year-old mare Camelia De Cotte (Fr) (Laveron {GB}) (lot 1136), who was sold in-foal to Australia (GB) for €140,000 to Treasa O'Keeffe.
“Camelia De Cotte was a very good racehorse, and she is a traditional National Hunt mare,” said O'Keeffe. “She will probably come back to visit a stallion in Ireland.”
Tattersalls Ireland Chief Executive Officer Matt Mitchell said, “The trade has been consistently strong this week. The buyers are focused on quality in terms of pedigree and conformation, reflecting the same trend in the store market. Breeders who were fortunate to have what the market sought were well rewarded. We welcomed a large contingent of purchasers to Fairyhouse this week with robust domestic representation and an increased presence of UK and French customers.”
