+ANCIENT SECRET (f, 2, Kantharos">Kantharos–Privacy, by Notebook), sent off the even-money favorite to open her account at first asking, asserted late to score by three lengths Saturday afternoon at Belmont Park. Away alertly from her high draw, the chestnut raced prominently from a four-wide perch in fifth spot early and was poised from the three path at the head of the lane. It took her some time to reel in pacesetting debutante Tough Temper (Quality Road), but, despite drifting out in the waning stages, came away to score with relative ease. Longshot Ametrine (Freud) finished well to complete the exacta. Ancient Secret drilled a quarter-mile in a smart :21 1/5 and was hammered down to agent Steve Young for $225,000 at this year's OBS April sale.
