TRES SOLES (c, 2, Justify–Chocolate Souffle, by Tapit), gunned right to the front from his middle gate as the 8-5 favorite, wasted no time taking command in his debut performance. With a length in hand moving into the far turn ahead of a wall of horses chasing behind, Tres Soles was confronted on his outside by Reagan (Accelerate). The pair dueled past the quarter pole and Tres Soles looked beaten with three-sixteenths to run as his rival began to pull past him but was able to re-rally in the final hundred yards, drawing even once more and then sticking a head in front on the wire for the slim victory. The front pair were another 6 1/2 lengths ahead of third-place finisher Mackman (Union Rags). A $400,000 Keeneland September yearling, Tres Soles is the 16th winner for his freshman sire (by Scat Daddy). His dam, herself a daughter of MGISP Super Espresso (Medaglia d'Oro), produced a yearling filly by American Pharoah and a weanling filly by Violence before visiting Charlatan for the 2023 season. Sales History: $400,000 Ylg '21 KEESEP. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $69,000. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by TVG.
