Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale Catalogue Released

The four-day 2018 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, in its eighth consecutive year of growth, will be held at Oaklands Junction on Mar. 4-7. The 770-lot strong catalogue–which includes 505 Super VOBIS nominees and 339 BOBS eligible yearlings–is available here. Of the 160 yearlings offered on Mar. 4, 43 selected yearlings–geared toward Classic and staying types–make up the Blue Riband session.

Eighty-eight lots are siblings to black-type winners. There are also 103 progeny of black-type winning mares including Group 1 winners Yosei (Aus) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}), Miss Mossman (NZ) (Mossman {Aus}), She's Archie (Aus) (Archway {Ire}), Dane Julia (SAf) (Caesour) and Veloce Bella (NZ) (Volksraad {GB}).

There are 120 stallions represented–26 of them first-season sires–and several stallions of interest number: Written Tycoon (Aus) (49), Toronado (Ire) (44), Zoustar (Aus) (39), Reward For Effort (Aus) (25), Brazen Beau (Aus) (21), Street Boss (21), Dissident (Aus) (20), Sebring (Aus) (20), Starspangledbanner (Aus) (19) Adelaide (Ire) (3), Deep Field (Aus) (16), Puissance de Lune (Ire) (6) and Sacred Falls (NZ) (5).

The 2017 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale enjoyed an 88% clearance rate, as well as a record median (A$100,000) and average (A$120,262).

“As a national bloodstock team we are very proud of eight years of consecutive growth in average and aggregate at Premier,” Victorian Bloodstock Manager Simon Vivian said. “To smash the Victorian record, to have a record median and average and a clearance rate of 88% in 2017 indicates the strength of the sale, the quality of product on offer and the depth of the buying bench–all of which will again be on display in 2018.”
