Harlan's Holiday Colt Scores Again at Monmouth

Command Post | Lauren King

COMMAND POST (c, 3, Harlan's Holiday–Danzig's Humor, by Lemon Drop Kid) followed up an impressive win at second asking at Gulfstream Park Apr. 15 with a convincing score in his first try around two turns at Monmouth Monday. The bay, bet down to even-money favoritism, went straight to the front and showed the way under a firm hold through a quarter-mile in :24.59 and a half in :49.35. Bracing for a challenge from a pair of rivals to his outside on the far turn, he drifted well off the rail and kicked clear again entering the stretch. Kept to his task late despite ducking in sharply approaching midstretch, the $220,000 KEESEP yearling crossed the wire three lengths in front of Upper Room to complete a commonly sired exacta. The final time for one mile and seventy yards was 1:42.66. The winner's dam is a half to influential sire Distorted Humor (Forty Niner), and his third dam is MGSW Sweetest Chant. Lifetime Record: 3-2-0-0, $53,120.
