Historic breeding establishment Haras du Quesnay announced it will disband its operation, including 40 broodmares, fillies and foals, during the upcoming Arqana Vente d'Elevage Dec. 3-6.
“The Lov Group will purchase the stud,” Freddy Head told JDG Sunday. “I believe le Quesnay will remain a stud, that's the objective. However, it is too early to tell. In any case, it won't take place until next year. All of the Haras du Quesney stock will be sold in December. Personally, I will continue to breed on my end.”
Haras du Quesney stallions Recoletos (Fr) (Whipper) and Intello (Ger) (Galileo {Ire}) have also been relocated. The former has been moved to Petit Tellier, while the latter will take up residence at Haras de Beaumont for the 2023 breeding season.
Among those on offer at Arqana:
- Perle d'Auge (Le Havre), a half-sister to Eternal Pearl, a winner of the G3 Prix Minerve and G3 Dubai S., from the close family of G1 Matron S. winner Pearls Galore. This is the maternal line of Pearly Shells.
- The last foal out of the dam of Treve (Motivator), a filly from Le Havre's final crop.
- Toride, a half-sister to Treve, that has produced black-type Lady Day and Maximum, that is offered in foal to Zarak.
All the lots from the Haras du Quesnay dispersal will be available online Monday, Oct. 31, when the whole catalogue for the Vente d'Elevage will be unveiled at www.arqana.com.
Renowned for having stood a bevy of top sires, including Green Dancer, Riverman, Sir Gaylord, Gay Mecene, Bellypha, Saint Cyrien, Bering, Highest Honor and Anabaa, as well as Le Fabuleux, the operation is also famed for having bred Astec, Chaparral, Riverqueen, Harbour, Ma Biche, Silvermine, Bering, Ravinella, and Matiara, Bon Mot, Détroit and most recently Trêve.
