The word was very much out on Alters Racing Stable's Apologynotaccepted ahead of Friday's eighth race at Gulfstream Park, as the 5-year-old was crushed at the windows from a morning line of 12-1 into a starting price just one-third of that. The homebred mare had the rail post and a formidable foe in the form of big-figure debuter Stylish Quality (Quality Road) to overcome, but she left there running and soon led. She covered her opening half-mile in :45.34, skipped well clear of her rivals into the final furlong and crossed the wire every bit of 15 lengths the best, becoming one of the more unique TDN Rising Stars in the history of the designation. “I thought it was a tough race. It was a tough race. She made it look easy,” trainer David Kassen said. “She had been training super good. The rider liked her and said she was the best horse he's been on all winter. He's been working her, and he's been on some nice horses. She ran back to her works. It's amazing, but she trained like that. She came home in 11 and he said she had a lot left in the tank.” The winner's dam was bred to Morning Line in 2015. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $21,600.
