Gidu, runner-up on debut at Saratoga last August, was tabbed a 'TDN Rising Star' after a 3 1/4-length win going five furlongs over the Gulfstream lawn Dec. 23. He set the pace and battled to a runner-up finish, a head short of Speed Franco (Declaration of War), when stretched to one mile in the GIII Dania Beach S. at Gulfstream last time out Feb. 3. The gray colt was under wraps while racing in second behind fractions of :22.21 and :45.56. He reeled in the pacesetter turning for home and bound clear.
