Frankel Filly Sells for €1.7-million at Goffs Orby

Hip 23 | Racing Post

As expected, the first Frankel offspring through Goffs' Orby ring illuminated the initial session when Mountarmstrong Stud's Hip 23 sold to China Horse Club for €1.7-million. The first filly out of the globetrotting Champion racemare and five-time Group 1 winner Alexander Goldrun (Ire) (Gold Away {Ire}), the homebred bay drew an opening bid of €200,000 from Matt Coleman before going through the increments until agent Michael Wallace's winning offer set the early tone. Her half-brother Juniper Tree (Galileo {Ire}), himself a 950,000gns TATOCT yearling, ran three times for Aidan O'Brien and hit the board behind G1 Epsom Derby and G1 Irish Derby victor Australia (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) in his 2013 debut run. Fellow sibling Pietrangelo (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) remains untested by trainer David Lanigan. “She was a very obvious filly,” Wallace told Racing Post. “Frankel needs no explanation and being out of a mare like that, she is always going to hold value. Coupled with her physical attributes, she is an elite filly.”
