The two of them opened up in tandem by a wide margin on the turn before Star Empire started to edge away from his pace foe approaching the top of the stretch. He then kicked clear in the lane under mild handling, coming home a 6 1/2-length winner. The bay colt is the second winner for this freshman sire, who stands at Newgate Farm in Australia and shuttled up to Whitsbury Manor Stud in England. He is one of three Foxwedge colts sent to Wesley Ward's barn by the Bateman family, who raced the Group 1 winner, and will be pointed to a start at Royal Ascot next.
