Figures Up At Cheltenham Sale

Tattersalls Ireland's Cheltenham May Sale yielded six lots costing more than £100,000, which helped boost figures. The aggregate of £3,206,000 was up 23% last year, while the median rose 13% to £40,000. The average remained steady at £50,889, while the clearance rate rose 14% to 89%. Monbeg Stables consigned three of the six-figure lots, headed by the sale-topping Redhotfillypeppers (Ire) (Robin Des Champs {Fr}) (lot 17), who was bought by Harold Kirk and Willie Mullins for £200,000. The second-highest price was the £190,000 paid by Highflyer Bloodstock for Lough Derg Spirit (Ire) (Westerner {GB}) (lot 37).
