The Fasig-Tipton October Fall Yearling Sale will begin its four-day run Monday at Newtown Paddocks in Lexington, with a catalogue boasting 1485 horses. The sale has grown over the last few editions, and will expand to the four-day format for the first time this year.

The yearling auctions have produced steady results all season and Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning, Jr. is expecting similiar results at the October sale.

“We're optimistic heading into the last yearling sale of the year,” Browning commented. “We've seen a fairly stable, solid marketplace throughout the year. Certainly, there continues to be significant demand for the desirable offerings and there's significant competition for those horses–I think we'll see that trend continue in October.”

Recent graduates of the October sale include two-time GI Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile winner Goldencents, GI Arlington Million winner Hardest Core, GI Northern Dancer Turf S. winner Interpol and two-time graded winner Birdatthewire. With the largest October catalogue in sale history, Browning is confident buyers will find plenty of offerings at all levels.

“It's the biggest catalogue we've ever had for the October sale and it continues to build on the success of the graduates having so much success on the racetrack,” Browning said. “People are more confident than ever to bring a quality horse there. We've got something for everybody. It's a very strong catalogue with lots of diversity in types of horses and pedigrees. We could not be more excited.”

In 2014, 837 yearlings sold from the 1238 catalogued for an average of $35,850–up slightly from 2013's average of $34,117–and a median of $18,500–also up from 2013's $17,000 figure.

Conquest Stables purchased the top two priced lots at last year's sale. The $410,000 highest-priced yearling was a Woods Edge-consigned filly by Tapit. The unraced juvenile has been named Conquest Tapdance. Conquest also took home the top-priced colt, the subsequently named Conquest Streetwar (Street Sense {Ire}). He was consigned by Baccari Bloodstock and fetched $400,000.

The October sale runs through Thursday with sessions beginning daily at 10 a.m.
