Dialed In Colt Remains Unbeaten in Iroquois

The Tabulator | Coady

The Tabulator kept his perfect record in tact and stamped his ticket to the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile with a victory in Churchill's GIII Iroquois S. Saturday afternoon. Receiving Lasix for the first time here, the juvenile tracked from second as Smart Remark (First Defence) ticked off opening splits of :23.12 and :47.73. Charging to the front entering the bend, the bay began to drift out in front of “TDN Rising Star” Hollywood Handsome in the lane, but never impeded him, and maintained his advantage to the line. This was the second Iroquois win for trainer Larry Rivelli, who won the 2015 edition with Cocked and Loaded (Colonel John).

“We've always thought highly of him and he's always acted like a nice horse from the beginning,” jockey Jose Valdivia, Jr., said. “We won impressively in the debut but Larry couldn't get an allowance race to go at Arlington so he shipped to Prairie Meadows. In both of these two starts he was still pretty green. Even in this race he still had a little immaturity. We inherited the lead a little before I actually wanted to. He broke so well and we got into a good position and relaxed early. When we turned for home in front he still looked around a little bit in the stretch but I'm just glad we were able to get there.”

“I've never had a horse start off like this and I've been in the game for more than 15 years,” owner Carolyn Wilson said. “Larry is a wonderful trainer. He and his entire team do such a great job with our horses and it's so exciting to have a horse like this. It's really easy when I just write a check and this happens.”

Purchased for $460,000 at the OBS March sale after breezing in :10 flat, The Tabulator romped by nine lengths in his 4 1/2-length unveiling over the Arlington synthetic July 2 and captured the Prarie Meadows Golden Juvenile S. July 28.

Pedigree Notes:

The Tabulator is the second graded stakes winner for his second-crop sire Dialed In, following MGSW and GI Travers S. runner-up Gunnevera. The winner is a half-brother to the SP Star Via Strada (Street Boss); a yearling filly by Take Charge Indy; and a weanling filly by Street Boss. The Tabulator hails from the family of GISWs Bellamy Road, Gold Fever and Boisterous.
