Death Of MG1SW Shoot Out

Shoot Out | Racing And Sports

Five-time Group 1 winner Shoot Out (Aus) (High Chaparral {Ire}) has died at the age of ten from complications arising from a bout of colic. Originally trained by John Wallace, Graham and Linda Huddy's gelding enjoyed a marvellous 3-year-old campaign in 2010 capped by wins in the G1 Royal Randwick Guineas and the G1 Australian Derby. He then went without a win for almost 18 months and was subsequently transferred to trainer Chris Waller. He rediscovered his winning form in 2012, winning the G1 Chipping Norton S. at Warwick Farm and Randwick's G1 George Main S. before landing his fifth top level victory in the following year's Chipping Norton S. “He was a very good horse. I can only take claim for the second part of his career but prior to coming to me he was a superstar,” Chris Waller told Racing.com. “I was lucky enough to be involved with him at the end of his career. He was a tough horse. One of those old genuine weight-for-age horses. He was unlucky not to have won a few more. He carried big weights in Doncasters and ran into good horses and always ran a good race. You always wish you had a stable full of horses like him,” Waller added. Shoot Out proved not only a high class racehorse but a durable one also, having retired back in September 2013 with a race record of 37-10-5-6 for earnings of A$3,231,950.
