Dabirsim and Havana Gold Set Fierce Pace

Different League, nearside, strikes at Ascot | Racing Post

Haras de Grandcamp resident Dabirsim (Fr), who was the only first-season stallion to sire a winner at Royal Ascot, is currently leading the European freshman table, with eight winners from just 14 runners giving him not only an impressive winning strike-rate but also a clear lead by prize-money.

Heading the list of his runners is the Matthieu Palussiere-trained Different League (Fr), winner of the G3 Albany S. for Theresa Marnane, who also races Dabirsim's dual winner Cead Mile Failte (Fr). Another two new winners this week means that the son of Hat Trick (Jpn) is also currently leading the table for all French-based sires of 2-year-olds.

Dabirsim's British-based counterpart Havana Gold (Ire) has also made a promising start to his stud career at Tweenhills and has been represented by 11 individual winners to date from 27 runners. The best of these is Karl Burke's representative Havana Grey (GB), who added a second Listed victory to his CV on Friday when bouncing back from a disappointing run at Royal Ascot to land Sandown's Dragon S.

Havana Gold is also the sire of the Royal Ascot Racing Club's Headway (GB), who prompted a great roar from his syndicate of owners when second to Rajasinghe (Ire) (Choisir {Aus}) in the G2 Coventry S.

The late Society Rock (Ire) has also sired 11 winners so far this season and currently sits in third place in the European table, well clear of Lethal Force (Ire) in fourth, while Ballyhane Stud's Red Jazz takes lower order by prize-money but has been represented by eight winners.

Getting off the mark with a first winner on the board within the last week were Camelot (GB), Al Kazeem (GB) and Dawn Approach (Ire).
