Belmont Cancels Friday Races, Postpones Sunday Stakes

Belmont Park has cancelled racing today, citing 1 1/2 inches of rain overnight and the prediction that two more inches, accompanied by high winds, are on the way. Five Grade I races have been drawn for tomorrow, including two on turf. Sunday's card was scheduled to feature three graded stakes on the grass, but the New York Racing Association has decided to move two of the races, the GIII Pilgrim S. and the GIII Miss Grillo S., to Wednesday, Oct. 1. NYRA intends to run the GII Kelso H. on turf Sunday if possible.
