Ancient Secret was no secret when bet down to even-money in her Oct. 24 debut sprinting over this course against state-breds and delivered with a three-length score under minimal urging. Laid up for almost seven months afterwards, the $225,000 OBS April buy came back with another promising effort May 14, toying with New York-bred allowance foes by 4 1/4 lengths going seven furlongs. Stepping up into stakes company in this feature, Ancient Secret broke sharply at a little over 3-1 before being reined in to run fourth, about three lengths off of a :23.21 quarter-mile. Biding her time heading into the far turn, the chestnut was pushed along just a bit nearing the five-sixnteeths marker and came flying once produced down the center of the course in the stretch, reeling in longshot leader Thundering Sky (Sky Mesa) in the dying strides to get up by a short head and remain unbeaten. The winner's dam has a 2-year-old Posse filly named Hiding and foaled an Afleet Alex colt this term. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
