Amaron's Run Wild Dominant In the Pretty Polly

It was another success for the John Gosden stable in a Classic trial at Newmarket on Sunday as Tweenhills Fillies and Meridian International's Run Wild (Ger) (Amaron {GB}) produced a scintillating display in the Listed Pretty Polly S. Third in the Listed Montrose Fillies' S. when last seen here in November, the 11-2 shot was kept wide by Oisin Murphy throughout the early stages and soon held the overall lead allowed to bowl at her own tempo. Crossing to the far rail to complete the demolition job, the chestnut had 3 3/4 lengths to spare over Queen Daenerys (Ire) (Frankel {GB}) at the line, with Trefoil (GB) (Teofilo {Ire}) a head behind in third.

Off the mark on her third start by six lengths over a mile at Kempton in August, the chestnut was less than two lengths behind Powerful Breeze (GB) (Iffraaj {GB}) when fourth in the G2 May Hill S. at Doncaster in September before running second to Pocket Square (GB) (Night of Thunder {Ire}) in Deauville's G3 Prix des Reservoirs in October and third in the Listed Montrose Fillies' S. here in November. “It was the plan to relax here wherever that was to be and she pricked her ears after two strides so I left her there and let her go forward,” Murphy said. “She was fit and covers loads of ground–I had them beaten before I got to the dip. I wouldn't think 12 furlongs will suit her and she's massive, so Epsom might not play to her strengths. She is so big I would imagine she'll still be progressing when others have reached their level later on.”

Gosden was in accord with Murphy in ruling out a tilt at the Oaks. “She is not the sort of filly you want to take back and fiddle about with. She just loves to use her stride, which she did to good effect,” he said. “I would say that is it trip-wise and I wouldn't go any further than a mile and a quarter. She has got plenty of experience and put it to good use.”

Queen Daenerys' trainer Roger Varian is looking at the July 4 Epsom Classic, however. “They went a good pace and I like the way she stayed on at the end,” he commented. “She looks like she is crying out for further, so I wouldn't rule out the Oaks but I need to speak to the owner first. I just think it is a very good start to the season and we will keep all the options open to her.”

Run Wild becomes the fourth black-type winner for the prolific producer Rondinay (Fr) (Cadeaux Genereux {GB}), with the pick of her previous being the G3 Preis der Winterkonigin heroine Rock My Love (Ger) (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}) and the four-times listed-winning and G3 Prix Allez France-placed Rock My Soul (Ire) (Clodovil {Ire}). The latter is also the dam of the four-times group 3 scorer Young Rascal (Fr) (Intello {Ger}). The dam is a half to the G3 Hamburger Stutenpreis winner Touch My Soul (Fr) (Tiger Hill {Ire}) from the family of the G1 Bayerisches Zuchtrennen and G2 German 2000 Guineas-winning sire Turfkonig (Ger) (Anfield {Ire}), the G2 German 1000 Guineas heroine and G1 Prix de Diane third Tryphosa (Ire) (Be My Guest), the G1 Premio Lydia Tesio scorer Turfrose (Ger) (Big Shuffle) and the G1 Preis der Diana heroine Turfdonna (Ger) (Doyen {Ire}). Rondinay's as-yet unnamed 2-year-old filly is by Jukebox Jury (Ire), while she also has a yearling filly by Intello (Ger).
