A field of fifteen fillies go to post for the G1 Schweppes Thousand Guineas where the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott trained Global Glamour (Aus) (Star Witness {Aus}) seeks her second Group 1 win in a week. She beat the Spring Champion bound Yankee Rose by half a length in the G1 Flight S. last Saturday and will bid to give her owners, a syndicate of prominent international ladies from the world of bloodstock (Read TDN article here), another day in the sun. She will do well however to beat Foxplay (Aus) (Foxwedge {Aus}) as Chris Waller's filly already has two victories over Global Glamour to her credit. Bred by SF Bloodstock Foxplay has enjoyed a perfect prep for the race taking a brace of Group 2 races in September, most recently the G2 TAB Tea Rose S. at Randwick Sept. 17 where she relegated Global Glamour to sixth. Legless Veuve (NZ) (Pins {Aus}) is another who would appear to have the measure of some her rivals based on her last time out win in the G2 Schweppes Thousand Guineas Prelude at Caulfield Sept. 24. On that occasion she counted La Luna Rossa (NZ) (Written Tycoon {Aus}), Sword Of Light (Aus) (New Approach {Ire}) and I Am A Star (NZ) (I Am Invincible {Aus}) as her immediate victims and trainer Stuart Webb's lightly raced filly would appear to have even more scope for improvement that her re-opposing rivals.
