Extra Race Date Added To Remington Park Season

The 2023 Thoroughbred Season at Remington Park will stretch one day deeper into December as an afternoon program has been added for Saturday, Dec.16, the track announced Friday. The first race will be at 2:30pm. The extra date of races will serve as a make-up for the nine races lost Wednesday, Dec. 6 when the track lighting system did not power up to the full potential needed for racing. Oklahoma Derby, Springboard Mile Headline Remington Stakes Schedule

The Sept. 25 GIII Oklahoma Derby for sophomores and the Dec. 17 Springboard Mile for juveniles will both carry $400,000 purses and headline Remington Park's stakes schedule for its upcoming 2022 Thoroughbred racing season, which begins Friday Aug. 19. Scott Wells to Retire from Remington and Lone Star

Remington Park and Lone Star Park president and general manager Scott Wells will retire from his position this fall. Wells was on staff at Remington Park for three years beginning in 1990 soon after the OKC track first opened for live racing in 1988. Wells returned to Remington to his present position in 2005 and has directed operations at the track since then. He assumed the role of president and general manager at Lone Star Park in 2013. A native Oklahoman, Wells trained Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds for 17 years...
