Delaware Park Postpones July 10 Card

For the second time in the past week, Delaware Park cancelled a live racing card due to the heat and moved the card as drawn to a different day. The latest Delaware Park live racing day to fall victim to excessive heat is the card scheduled for Wednesday, July 10. Colonial Downs Cancels Live Racing Friday Due to Heat

Virginia's Colonial Downs has cancelled its Friday's card due to an excessive heat forecast. The National Weather Service is predicting heat indices for Friday ranging from 105-110 degrees Fahrenheit, numbers that examine the combined effects of temperature, wind speed, and humidity. Thursday's nine-card will still be run as scheduled with a first post of 1:30 p.m. ET. Friday's card will be brought back as drawn on Wednesday, Aug. 2. Colonial Downs Cancels July 25 Racing Over Heat Concerns

With the safety of equine and human athletes in mind, and with excessive temperatures and heat indexes predicted, live racing Monday, July 25 has been cancelled at Colonial Downs. Their scheduled, featured stakes--the $150,000 Colonial Cup at 1 1/2m on turf--will now be run Wednesday, July 27 as originally drawn. Live racing resumes Tuesday, July 26 at 1:45p.m.
