More Race Days, Strong Purses Highlight Positive February Trends

Despite several cold and snowy weather-related cancellations, more race days and higher available and paid purses were amongst the positive economic trends year over year for the month of February. 230 race days (+5.02%) led to over $79,562,309 (+8.57%) of paid out purses last month spread over 2,001 races (+4.76%). Fewer February Race Days Leads To Decreases Across Economic Impact

February 2025 had 219 race days compared to 252 from the same month a year ago (-13.10%) leading to decreases in most major economic fields. In the same month over month comparison, average field size was up (+3.63%) as was average wagering per race day (+5.85%) and average available purses per race day (+3.49%). New Dubai World Cup Bonus Scheme Unveiled

A new Dubai World Cup bonus scheme, featuring over $4 million in additional prize-money, was unveiled by the Dubai Racing Club on Wednesday. A total of nine races, all slated for Meydan Racecourse between January and March of 2024, will carry automatic entry into the corresponding race on Dubai World Cup night on Mar. 30, with a chance of a 10% bonus if they win both races. Breeding Stock Sales Season Wraps Up at Fasig February

The final auction of the breeding stock sales season kicks off Monday at Fasig-Tipton with their two-day Winter Mixed Sale. A total of 542 horses filled the initial catalogue and that number has risen to 651 with the addition of late supplements.
