Arqana Autumn Sale

While all the clamour at last week's Tattersalls Ireland November National Hunt Sale was for the offspring of Walk In The Park (Ire) and Blue Bresil (Fr), at Arqana's Autumn Sale the dominant sire for young stores and National Hunt yearlings was Doctor Dino (Fr).  The Haras du Mesnil resident accounted for five of the nine six-figure lots, including the top lots on the last two days of the sale. A slimmed down section of stores and National Hunt yearlings nevertheless brought an aggregate close to last year's tally as the Arqana Autumn Sale continued in Deauville. Arqana's Autumn Sale, which began on Saturday with a session of Flat yearlings, resumed with a lively session of horses in training, headed by Make Me King (Fr) (Dark Angel {Ire}) at €380,000, one of two six-figure purchases on the day by Wathnan Racing. Two flat performers and four National Hunt horses have been added as Wild Cards to the catalogue for Arqana's Autumn Sale, which is set take place from Monday, Nov. 20 to Thursday, Nov. 23 in Deauville. The Arqana November Yearling Sale and Autumn Sale Catalogues are now available online. The November Yearling Sale will take place on Saturday, Nov. 18 while the Autumn Sale gets underway on Nov. 20 and runs through Nov. 23. Flat yearlings, lots 1 to 181, will sell on Saturday, Nov. 18. The four-day Arqana Autumn Sale ended on Thursday with a session devoted to National Hunt breeding stock comprised of foals, broodmares, and fillies. Three horses broke the six-figure mark, and Grade 3 heroine La Boetie (Fr) (Saint Des Saints {Fr}) (lot 820) hammered at a session-topping €190,000 to Guy Petit, who had been active earlier in the sale. The second session of Arqana's Autumn Sale featured a session of juvenile stores, as well as National Hunt-bred yearlings. Bloodstock agent Guy Petit shelled out a combined €165,000 for the most expensive pair of juveniles on Tuesday--lot 442 and lot 442B, a gelding, and filly, respectively, by Karaktar (Ire) and Saint Des Saints (Fr). Carini (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}), a latest runner-up in the Oct. 19 Listed Prix Vulcain for the Aga Khan and Francis-Henri Graffard, was knocked down to Nicolas Lefevre's Equos Racing on the phone with Astute Bloodstock's Louis Le Metayer for €600,000 during Monday's horses-in-training session of the Arqana Autumn Sale in Deauville.
