Pricey Curlin Colt Graduates at Big A

Curlin, sire of Conquer the World | Sarah Andrew

1st-Aqueduct, $80,000, Msw, 11-18, 3yo/up, 1 3/16mT, 1:54.63, fm, 2 1/4 lengths.
CONQUER THE WORLD (c, 3, Curlin–Wapi {Chi} {Ch. 3-year-old Filly-Chi, MG1SW-Chi, $163,507}, by Scat Daddy), third in his debut going 8 1/2 panels at Belmont Oct. 24, was given a 4-1 chance to stepping up in trip. Pushed outward at the start and losing some early action, the chestnut settled in last through moderate splits of :24.27 and :47.56. Starting to pick up the tempo midway down the backstretch, he gradually passed rivals exiting the far turn and thrust himself into a clear second turning for home as North Carolina (Speightstown) continued to move easily in front. Narrowing the deficit through the stretch, the $1.5 million Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling purchase took over from the pacesetter midstretch and drew off to score by 2 1/4 lengths. The first foal out of Chilean champion Wapi, Conquer the World has a year-younger brother by Gun Runner named Chileno. Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-1, $54,800.
