Oaks Fillies On Trial At Chester

It is 10 years since the Listed Cheshire Oaks threw up a subsequent G1 Epsom Oaks heroine in Light Shift (Kingmambo), but the last two winners, Ballydoyle's Fastnet Rock (Aus) pair Somehow (Ire) and Diamondsandrubies (Ire), made their mark at a much higher level and Aidan O'Brien has one by that sire again in Alluringly. Related to Wonder of Wonders (Kingmambo), one of the stable's five winners in the last nine years in 2011, she stamped her class on a nine-furlong Tipperary maiden on Apr. 20.

Penalised for her success in the G2 May Hill S. over a mile at Doncaster in September, Rich Legacy was 12 lengths fourth to Rhododendron (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) in the G1 Fillies' Mile at Newmarket in early October before finishing 12th in the G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud late that month. Ironically, despite the winner of that race Waldgeist (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) suffering defeat in Monday's G2 Prix Greffulhe, it has thrown up four Classic trial scorers so far in 2017. Trainer Ralph Beckett said, “She hasn't got a great draw and she's got the penalty to carry, but we've got to run her to see if she stays this far. I think she will myself, but we'll find out tomorrow.”
