Owner Lloyd Williams, who has already won the G1 Emirates Melbourne Cup six times including this year with Rekindling (GB) (High Chaparral {Ire}) and trainer Joseph O'Brien, is in the process of building up his 2018 Melbourne Cup battalion, with a quintet of Galileo (Ire) colts arriving at Macedon Lodge, reported Racenet. Williams had alluded in early November to new imports arriving. The Racing Australia website revealed that the five are previous Aidan O'Brien trainees: the winner Exemplar (Ire), who was third in the G2 Juddmonte Beresford S. at The Curragh in 2016 and was second in the G3 Kilternan Enterprise S. at Leopardstown this September; G3 Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial hero Douglas Macarthur (Ire); Listed Leopardstown 2000 Guineas Trial victor and G3 Hampton Court S. runner-up Orderofthegarter (Ire); Spanish Steps (Ire), a winner of the G3 Ballyroad S. this August; and Venice Beach (Ire), a winner of the G3 Chester Vase S. who also ran second to Cracksman (GB) (Frankel {GB}) in the G2 Great Voltigeur S. and third in the G1 Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris.
