It takes me very little time to come up with the answer when I ask myself, “Who do I admire most in the horse industry.” Helen C. Alexander–a tireless industry supporter who has served on every imaginable board, championed the cause to enhance our game from every angle to improve the sport and the integrity of the business we all enjoy being a part of while masterfully managing a breeding operation at Middlebrook Farm (and formerly King Ranch) that continues to have a significant influence on the stud book by raising stakes winner after stakes winner for herself, her family and her clients.
She has traveled the world (many times over) and been an avid student of our game from her early days tagging along with her parents to see the King Ranch stock at farms and tracks around the world. These things coupled with an encyclopedic knowledge of significant events in our industry's past make her a masterful story teller. Her approachable demeanor and great sense of humor make landing a spot near her the best draw at any dinner table.
Her untiring service to our industry as one of its legendary ambassadors is trumped only by her tremendous loyalty to family and friends who would all tell you the same thing–she is always there when you need her and never turns down the opportunity to help.
