Who do you Admire? With Anna Seitz

Anna Seitz

Outside of my family, Ron Moquett is the person I admire the most in the horse industry. As a former foster child who started with basically nothing from Fort Smith, AR who has gone on to build a very successful training operation from the ground up, Ron Moquett is truly living the American dream. Ron not only invests a lot of his own hard-earned money into the business, but he is also responsible for bringing in many new owners to the industry as well. He routinely volunteers his time to speak at owner's seminars and welcomes many visitors to his barn in the mornings to share his love of horses with the fans, especially the youth. He is a great promoter of the game.

One walk down Ron's shedrow and it's obvious he takes exceptional care of the horses under his care. He has just about every equine massage therapy machine I've seen (from vibrating plates to salt water spas and everything in between) and I can see why he has earned the loyalty of his owners for so many years. But, it's not just his horses that are treated extremely well. The fact that Ron offers his employees two weeks paid vacation speaks volumes of how Ron also takes care of his staff. The man eats, sleeps and breathes horses and has a work ethic and drive that is second to none but, no matter how busy he gets, he is always quick to lend a helping hand. That is what I admire most about Ron Moquett, he is just a really good person. If someone comes to him in need, he doesn't even hesitate to help them out. I've seen him offer countless people a leg up when others might not give them a shot, support a lot of charities and even just help mentor someone trying to make it on their own. The backside and Thoroughbred industry in general is definitely a better place because of Ron and I am lucky to call him my friend.
