Well-Related War Front Colt Hammers to Godolphin

Hip 226's full-sister, the GISW Avenge | Benoit photo

Hip 226, a colt by War Front–Lerici (Woodman), was hammered down to representatives of Godolphin for $995,000 as the penultimate lot of day two of the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga sale in upstate New York. Bred by Tada Nobutaka, the dark bay brought plenty of pedigree to the table, as his full-sister Avenge, a $650,000 graduate of this sale in 2013, won last year's GI Rodeo Drive S. and was third in the GI Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf. Hip 226 is also a half-sister to Lira (Giant's Causeway), a stakes winner at two and three and a $950,000 purchase by Moyglare Stud Farm out of last year's Fasig-Tipton November sale. Hip 226 was consigned to the sale by Gainesway, as agent.
