LONG ISLAND SOUND (c, 3, War Front">War Front–Treasure Trail, by Pulpit), an $800,000 KEENOV weanling, went from a maiden to a conditions event on Dundalk's Polytrack in the space of three weeks last month and arrived here as the 8-11 favourite with an unbeaten record to preserve on for his first run on turf. Quickly at the head of affairs, the bay who is out of a half to none other than Zenyatta (Street Cry {Ire}) was joined and briefly headed by Elusive Heights (Ire) (Elusive Pimpernel) inside the final furlong but rallied gamely against the rail to assert for a length success. “I thought the track rode a little bit tight for him and it wasn't ideal making all,” jockey Seamie Heffernan said. “He's a group horse.” Aside from the winner's link to the peerless Zenyatta, his dam is also a half-sister to the GI Santa Anita Oaks, GI Santa Margarita Invitational H. and GI Las Virgenes S. winner Balance (Thunder Gulch) and the stakes winner Where's Bailey (Aljabr), later the dam of the GII Yellow Ribbon H. winner She's Not Here (Street Cry {Ire}). She has a 2-year-old filly named Naples Parade by Street Cry (Ire) and also a yearling full-brother to the winner. Lifetime Record: 3-3-0-0, $35,510. Video, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
